World's best junior surfers set to land in Tahiti

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 March, 2010 : - - The inaugural Tahiti Nui Satellite Rangiroa Pro Junior is set to see 48 of the world's best pro junior, 21 years and under, surfers head to Tahiti from the 15 - 19 March 2010 to compete for US$25,000 in prize money and valuable ratings points to qualify for the ASP World Junior Tour.

“ASP Australasia is proud to include the Tahiti Nui Sattelite Rangiroa Pro Junior as part of the Australasian Pro Junior Series. It is truly exciting for Australasian and surfers world-wide to have the opportunity to compete in the world class waves of Tahiti and there is no doubt that the local Tahitian surfers will push them all the way as they look to claim victory on home soil.

The depth of surfing talent in Tahiti is incredible and i’m sure it is only a matter of time before more Tahitian surfers join current ASP World Tour competitor, Michel Bourez, on tour” stated ASP Australasia Tour Manager, Dane Jordan.

Mitch Crews, the current ASP Australasia Pro Junior Series ratings leader is looking forward to sampling the world class waves in Tahiti saying “The Tahiti Nui Sattelite Rangiroa Pro Junior is super crucial as it is a 5 grade so it is highly important to attend especially if you’re a top rated surfer.

Being able to surf the waves in Tahiti should be good, surfing in Australia alone is great but the waves are all similar so it is going to be interesting and different to the waves in oz, exciting, I can’t wait!"
