Page 30-59
Almanac
This is a fast-paced, week-by-week account of what happened in the world of surfing in 2008. Light and often humorous, it distils the vast store of information which has appeared in the news pages of Surfersvillage into an easy-to-read format – what we in Australia would call a “good dunny read”. Compiled by Phil Jarratt, it highlights the weird and the whacky, as well as news from the cultural and industry aspects of surfing. It also covers surfing competition when there is actual news, rather than results to report, e.g. Kelly Slater wraps up world title in six events! Accompanied by 3-4 photos per week, the Almanac should weigh in at around 20,000 words and fit three or four weeks per spread.

The state of surfing

Aspects of the waterman lifestyle include tow-in surfing, stand up paddle surfing, big wave riding, endurance paddling, tandem surfing etc. While Nick weaves the whole piece together, experts from each discipline offer their takes in stand-alone boxes.
